Overview
You’ve slogged your way through winter’s unyielding weather; you’ve endured slips and stumbles on the icy roads, frozen eyelashes, snot icicles, and frozen digits. Your runs (or should we call them, “shuffles”) have been mostly composed of donning and shucking various layers in order to maintain just the right amount of heat.
Well, time’s up, Old Man Winter...it’s time to run light and run fast.
Tri Fitness welcomes you to running in the Spring season with the Camp Wannarunamileormore ½ Marathon & 10k, a gorgeous run around Bald Eagle Lake, in addition to a 5K Run/Walk race and short Fun Run/Walk for kids and beginners.
Headphones are allowed on the course. Just please watch out for cars, pedestrians, other athletes, dogs and aliens. Probably not so much the aliens.
*This also happens to be perfect for a training run if you’re preparing for Grandma’s Marathon...weird how that works out :)
This race is part of our J.A.M.S. youth race series, with 3 distances: 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and 1 mile.

Friday, April 6th, 2012 10am - 6pm (yes, we're open for Good Friday)
Race Location
The race is held at beautiful Bald Eagle Regional Park in White Bear Lake (get directions). Parking on race day will be available within the parking lots adjacent to the park area. Signs and volunteers will direct the participants and volunteers.
Schedule of Events

6:30 am - Race-day registration opens
7:00 am - Race announcements begin
7:45 am - Registration closes
7:55 am - Final course updates (near start/finish line)

IMPORTANT! Please wear your race bib in front. You can wear a race belt, or pin it to your chest, but either way you're more likely to get accurate timing if you wear the bib in front. It's easier for the timing system to see you coming, and for the backup volunteers to record your number.
As for time limit, there really isn't one - we’ll stay out until the last person finishes :)
Course Profile
The 1/2 Marathon is a USATF-certified course.
We will have volunteers to help direct runners on the course, but as a race participant it is your responsibility to know where you're going ahead of time. Please let us know if the directions are unclear.
The course for the half marathon starts adjacent to the parking lot, proceeds south (clockwise) before heading north around Otter Lake. Runners get to see the north end of Bald Eagle Lake again as they reach the last ⅓of the course, which continues (counter-clockwise, this time) around the south side of Bald Eagle Lake.
The 10k course begins at a north-east corner of the lake and makes an almost complete (counter-clockwise) circle around the lake. Both courses stay away from major roads, are mostly flat, and are great for beginners; the more elite runners should find them moderately fast .
The 5K course will showcase historic White Bear Township neighborhoods and run along beautiful Bald Eagle Lake for a distance before returning to Start/Finish.
Fluid replacement (water and HEED) will be available approximately every 3 miles for all races.
Volunteers will be stationed throughout the course and at critical turns/areas.

The 1/2 marathon starts adjacent to the park’s parking lot and heads south on Hugo Rd, taking a right on Taylor Ave, which quickly merges into Bald Eagle Blvd. Runners continue on the Blvd until they come to Cty Rd H2. Runners will head West on H2 and continue until Otter Lake road. Once runners take a right on Otter Lake Rd, they’ll run uninterrupted for 3.5 miles, until they reach Cedar St. Runners head East on Cedar St, which quickly becomes 140th st, Elmcrest Ave, and 24th Ave...it sounds complicated, but it’s really not...it’s pretty much a straight line. Runners will then merge back onto Bald Eagle Blvd and continue south around the lake, back to the start/finish area.

The 10K starts at the intersection of Cty Rd J and Hugo Rd, one of the NE corners of the lake. Runners head West on Cty Rd J, which eventually merges with a road, known by a number of names, but mostly as Ethan Ave. Runners continue on Ethan, for the most part North, and counter-clockwise around the lake. Ethan Ave eventually becomes Bald Eagle Blvd, and runners will stay on this road the entire way around the lake, back to the Start/Finish area.

The 5K course will showcase historic White Bear Township neighborhoods and run along beautiful Bald Eagle Lake for a distance before returning to Start/Finish.
Finish Area
The finish area, where spectators and finishers can gather, watch and cheer will be located in the parking lot adjacent to the start/finish line.
Volunteers will assist in removing race number tags or timing chips.
Bottled water, HEED, fresh fruit and other post-race snacks will be provided.
Awards and Prizes
Awards and prizes apply to Half Marathon and 10K races. This year we'll be supplying medals for 1st and 2nd place in the 1/2 Marathon and 10K, and a trophy for overall male and female winner in each race. A little swag to place on your shelf!
Please note that awards are based on the "gun" start time, meaning the official race start. They are not based on your individual chip time. What's the difference? Well, none really if you start near the front of the pack. But if you're fast, and you start yourself at the back of the pack, it could cost you an award recognition. So if you think you might be in contention to do well overall or in your age group, then please line up for the start near the front of the pack.
Every participant receives a short sleeve performance shirt.
Prizes will be awarded to the following:
- Top overall Male & Female athletes
- Top 2 Male & Female athletes in each age group (19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+)
