Overview
This event is close to home for all of us here at Tri Fitness.
First, and most notably, it’s right in our backyard; Fast Before the Feast is hosted from Tri Fitness’ training center in White Bear Lake. A few of us make our homes here in WBL...and we all work here; either way, we’re part of a wonderful community of neighborhoods and businesses.
Second, and more importantly, we’re aware of and deeply affected by the growing hunger problem at both the local and national levels.
According to Hunger Solutions MN, “1 in 17 Minnesotans rely upon local food shelves to help feed their families. Last year, there were two million visits and 47 million pounds of food distributed at Minnesota’s 300 food shelves.
There has been a 62 percent increase in food shelf visits since 2000. This year, many food shelves are seeing double and triple digit increases.” These numbers are even more distressing nationwide: “The alarming results show that 1 in 6 Americans is food insecure. Even more shocking is that 1 in 4 children lives in a food-insecure household.”
We believe it is absolutely vital that we increase our efforts as a business, a family, and a part of this community towards reducing this problem. We want to be real, we want to have an impact; we want to be relevant.
But we can't do it alone.
The purpose of this event cannot be realized without you. As successful members of the community, we have a responsibility to help those that are less fortunate and contribute to the common good...and we believe that every little bit truly helps. We’re aware that there’s a swelling flood of intrinsic “giving back,” a deep-seated need to help each other out that’s beginning to sweep the country.
We’re inviting you to join us in this opportunity to be a part of this outpouring of individuals and families across all demographics who are volunteering their resources like never before.
Since the race’s inception, people like you have partnered with Tri Fitness to donate over 2000 pounds of food to the local food shelves. We’re delighted to have you and your family run with us on Thanksgiving morning; We’re even more excited because you’ll be helping someone less fortunate eat.
Perhaps in the holiday season, more than at any other time, our hearts go out to others. But there are always those who areless fortunate than we are and will appreciate our help all year round. Please consider giving what you can regularly to the charities that make a difference to your local and national community. You may be surprised at the benefits you reap!

Course Profile
The course for both races starts behind the training center, proceeds south through the parking area of the White Bear Sports Center and roams around the quaint neighborhood streets, eventually returning to the training center.
Both courses stay away from major roads and are mostly flat except for one hill near the beginning that runners get to climb and descend twice. Both courses are great for beginners, and the more elite runners should find them moderately fast.
Fluid replacement (water and HEED) will be available at the Start/Finish lines for both races (both races begin and end at the same place), and will also be available at the turn-around (halfway) point of the 10k. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the course and at critical turns/areas.
This run starts behind the Tri Fitness Training Center (West side) and heads south on Sports Center Drive, and through the parking lot of the White Bear Lake Sports Center until it intersects Birch Lake Blvd.
From there, runners wind through the neighborhood streets until they come to White Bear Pkwy. Runners follow this east until they come to Otter Lake Rd, where they head south. Otter Lake Rd quickly forks and runners should bear right onto Schuneman Rd.
It's a straight shot from here to the turn-around point (almost to the very end of the road). Once runners turn around, they'll follow the same course back to White Bear Pkwy. Runners will eventually hang a right, back onto Birch Lake Blvd, and then return to the start/finish line, via the same path through the WBL Sports Center parking lot.
This run starts behind the Tri Fitness Training Center (West side) and heads south on Sports Center Drive, and through the parking lot of the White Bear Lake Sports Center until it intersects Birch Lake Blvd. Runners continue to White Bear Parkway for about a block, until they take a left on Bibeau Rd.
From there, runners wind through the neighborhood streets until they come to White Bear Pkwy. Runners follow this West, all they back Birch Lake Blvd, and then return to the start/finish line, via the same path through the WBL Sports Center parking lot.
Finish Area
The finish area, where spectators and finishers can gather, watch, cheer, etc... will be located behind the training center, in the parking lot adjacent to the start/finish line.
Volunteers will assist in removing Race Number tags or timing chips. Bottled water, HEED, fresh fruit and other post-race snacks will be provided.
