Become a better swimmer!

Whether you're a complete novice or an experienced triathlete, we have you covered.  Throughout the winter, we'll be holding hour-long clinics for beginners as well as intermediate-level swimmers.  See below for more details on each!

For those looking for in-depth swim coaching, we also have private swim sessions.  The cost is $65 for 30 minutes or purchase a 4-pack for $220.   This includes video analysis from our coach.

Intermediate Swim Clinic

Limited to 6 participants per session

Who:  This clinic is designed to improve swim comfort, efficiency, and speed.  Improvement in each of these areas will develop the foundation for a faster swim with less effort.   Ultimately, a better swim can also lead to a stronger bike and faster run!  You should be able to swim at least 6 lengths of the pool without stopping.

When:

  • Saturday, August 15th, 2015 at 11:00am-12:00pm

Where:  Foss Swim School in Blaine, MN (map)

Why:  Our experienced swim coach will be able to help you get the most out of your swim, giving you help to get the most speed with the least effort, leading to a better overall race.

Get all of this in the clinic:

  • Stroke efficiency analysis
  • Coached workout within a small group and individual attention.
  • Customized training program focusing on improved swim efficiency and technique for each athlete. Individual programs will include swim workouts, swim drills, and swim specific strength work.

When:

  • Saturday, August 15th, 2015 at 9:45-10:45am

Where:  Foss Swim School in Blaine, MN (map)

Why:  Because swimming is EXCELLENT excercise, and most of us can improve our form.

Cost:  $40

Please wear a swim suit or Jammers, as you will be in the water.

If you have questions, please contact Amy via email or 651-426-3619.

Amy Croonquist - Swim Coach

Hometown: White Bear Lake, MN

Some of my favorites: Family, walking my 4 legged friends “Rosey” and “Scarlet” around the lake, friend time, golf, simple pleasures, and open water swims with friends.

Fitness Background: It’s all about the water!  It took only 10 years of competitive swimming and one amazing coach to know that I wanted to be just like him!  Today I teach/ coach all ages and levels of swimmers.  I am a Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, FA/CPR/AED Instructor and High School Coach of 18 years. I have also coached Junior and Masters Swim Teams and I have a background coaching Total Immersion Swimming.  I work with the first time triathlete who wants to know how to “just get through” their swim race, to the seasoned triathlete who wants to “get faster” and save energy at the same time!   I am an avid triathlete so I can relate to that swimming leg!  I love to swim open water races especially Bayfield to Madeline Island every August!  I know that everyone can improve their swimming with patience and mindfulness.  I can teach you how to think in the water. It’s just too much fun!

Hometown:  Racine,  WI

Some of my favorites:  Jumping in a lake or fountain after a hot run, curling up in bed when your body is hurting after a hard workout, beating up on training partners during practice, dogs.

Fitness Background:  My primary sport was swimming for 12 years, culminating in swimming backstroke and sprint freestyle at the University of Minnesota.  I have always struggled with asthma, and now I am healthier doing sports that keep me in the fresh air.

I love to cross-country ski in the winter and the variety in triathlon training keeps things fun.  Some notable race experiences I've had include competing in the draft-legal sprint at the USAT Collegiate Nationals and the American Birkebeiner ski race.  I have had some awesome coaches and teammates throughout the years who have influenced my approach to training and competition.  I think race-day confidence comes from being familiar with the pain from training and working on "the little things" on a day-to-day basis.
