CSR Rescue Romp

5K and Fun Run / Saturday, May 20th, 2017 /  9:00AM / White Bear Lake, MN

Overview

Animals are very close to the hearts of the Tri Fitness Team. As some of you know, we've got several lovable cocker spaniels amping up the environment at the Retail Store and Training Center. We are hosting a very special event to support our love of animals and the work that Cocker Spaniel Resources, Inc. (CSR for short) is doing.

A little background on Cocker Spaniel Resources, Inc....

CSR was founded in 2006, attained 501(c)(3) status in 2007, and serves primarily in the Upper Midwest. It is an organization that started out on a mission to rescue cocker spaniels and specializes in breeder release and puppy mill American cocker spanials, but they have since expanded to rescuing several other breeds in the process. To date, CSR has taken in and cared for 650 dogs. More often then not, when they rescue these dogs they are in horrific condition, requiring very expensive medical care. None of this care is donated by the vets. The women who run this organization fund the surgeries, etc. with donations.

Breed specific rescue organizations offer more services than shelters can. Every year CSR focuses on fundraising efforts to support a specific need for dogs. Last year it was hearing, this year it is eyesight, so all proceeds from the CSR 5k Rescue Romp and Cocker Crawl Fun Run will be donated to supporting their fundraising goals. In 2013 and 2014 CSR paid for 9 ablations at a cost of $1100.00 each, one jaw reconstruction, several cherry eye surgeries and one cataract surgery. In 2015 CSR funded more cataract and eye surgeries. The general cataract surgery for one eye is $2200.00 and $3200.00 for both eyes. This year, proceeds will go towards overall rescue efforts and wherever the money is most needed to help these animals.

Tri Fitness while partnering with CSR will be hosting 2 race categories for this event - the Rescue Romp 5k and the Cocker Crawl 1 mile Fun Run. We hope you'll consider participating in this close-our-hearts walk/run event as we can have a substantial impact on the number of dogs who receive the necessary treatment.

Pets are, of course, welcome!

We want to be sure to keep all of our pets healthy during this event. Here are some ideas to keep in mind as you bring your dog(s) to this event! Click HERE!

Course Profile

This run starts behind the Tri Fitness Training Center (West side), heads south on Sports Center Drive, and through the parking lot of the White Bear Lake Sports Center until it intersects Birch Lake Blvd. From there, runners wind through the neighborhood streets until they come to White Bear Pkwy. Runners follow this east until they come to Otter Lake Rd, where they head south. Otter Lake Rd quickly forks and runners should bear right onto Schuneman Rd. It's a straight shot from here to the turn-around point (almost to the very end of the road). Once runners turn around, they'll follow the same course back to White Bear Pkwy. Runners will eventually hang a right, back onto Birch Lake Blvd, and then return to the start/finish line, via the same path through the WBL Sports Center parking lot.

The finish area, where spectators and finishers can gather, watch and cheer, will be located behind the training center, in the parking lot adjacent to the start/finish line. A finisher bag will be provided at the end of the race that will include water and some chips.

Awards and Prizes

We will be giving away a $25 donation on the behalf of the 5k overall winners to CSR.
