Overview

Get in one last tri with One Last Tri!! This event takes place in beautiful at Ramsey County Beach in White Bear Lake.

One Last Tri consists of many options for participation: individual, team, short course, and long course. Additionally, if you are a corporate entity, we have a corporate sign-up available for you below!

The swim leg of the race is slightly shorter while the bike course loops around rural roads north of White Bear lake, and the run is FLAT and fast, on the paths right next to White Bear Lake.

We're excited to make One Last Tri the best it can be and the most fun for you as our guest!

Special thanks to Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department and White Bear Lake Park for use of their outstanding location and facilities. One Last Tri will be chip timed by Anderson Race Management.

NOTE ON DISTANCES:

  • Sprint – 400 yard swim, 12 mile bike and 5k run
  • Olympic – 800 yard swim, 25 mile bike and 10k run

There are four ways to register for this race:

Limited race day registration will be available as long as we have timing chips. 

Note: All participants will receive an event shirt and finisher medal. We cannot guarantee the size shirt requested if your Register after 9/7/2016. If we run out of shirts, you may need to pick up the event shirt at our retail store about 10 days after the race and will be notified via email.  We make every effort to order shirts ahead of time for all of our participants, in the sizes requested.  However, extra shirts are ordered using our “best guess” as we have to order the shirts two weeks in advance to ensure we have shirts for packet pickup.   Thank you for understanding and for registering early.

Size Chart:

Measure just under your arms, around your chest. The shirts tend to run a little large, so if you're between sizes, you might want to go a size lower, but it's totally up to your individual preferences.

Packet Pick-Up

Your race packet will include all the materials you need for your race, such as your swim cap, bike sticker, race bib, and some fun stuff like your complimentary event shirt.  Your timing chip will be given to you on race day.  You must have your bib to pick up your timing chip.   Be sure to bring your race bib and swim cap on race day morning. And please be sure to bring only the timing chip for this race; DO NOT wear a timing chip from a prior race, or it may interfere with your time for One Last Tri, potentially not recording your effort.

Pick up your race packets at NOW Bikes and Fitness in Arden Hills (get directions). For relay teams, only one member needs to pick up the packet. Packet pick up will be available:

  • Friday, September 15th 11:00am-6:00pm
  • Saturday, September 16th 10:00am-5:00pm

If you absolutely, positively can't make it before the race, we will have race day packet pick-up available.  Plan to arrive early as lines could be long.


Race Location

One Last Tri is being held at Ramsey County Beach (get directions). The Beach is located at 5050 Lake Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN  55110. It's only about 25 minutes from both downtown Minneapolis and downtown St. Paul. Simply take 35E north to County Highway 96. Go east on 96 for about 2 miles, then go north on 61. Go about 1 mile on 61, then take a right on Lake Avenue/96 for a few hundred yards until you see the beach.

Parking on race day will be available within the park and on nearby residential streets. There are about 250 parking spaces available within the park on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the lots are full, participants and spectators will have to park on nearby residential streets. The closest will be those along 9th, 10th, and 11th Streets near West Park.

Schedule of Events

  • 6:30 am - Park and parking lots open
  • 6:30 am - Transition area opens, body marking begins, race-day registration and packet pick-up begins
  • 7:00 am - Race announcements begin
  • 8:00 am - Race-day registration and packet pick-up closes
  • 8:15 am - Transition area closes and final course updates.
  • 8:30 am - START OF OLYMPIC COURSE at Memorial Beach; START OF SPRINT COURSE at Memorial Beach is immediately after the start of the OLYMPIC COURSE
  • 11:15 am (approximately) - Awards Ceremony

Course Profile

Swim Course

We will be doing mandatory pre-race updates near the pavilion at Ramsey Beach prior to the start. From there, we will walk down to Memorial Beach (across the road from West Park) for the swim start. It's about a 200 yard walk - a nice chance to warm up before the swim!

The short course swim will go out about 50 yards to the first orange buoy, and turn left (counter-clockwise), keeping the next orange buoys to your left. The total distance will be about 400 yards.

The long course swim will go out about 250 yards to the first large yellow buoy, and turn left (counter-clockwise), keeping the next yellow buoy to your left. The total distance will be as close to 800 yards as we can get it.

All swimmers are REQUIRED to wear a swim cap provided by us. All participants must report to the swim start area 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time trial start, regardless of starting position.

The course and turns are defined with orange/yellow buoys which should always be on the swimmers LEFT side. Lifeguards and kayaks/canoes line the entire course.

Swimmers will be sent in waves of 7 persons about 3-5 seconds apart.

The transition area will be at the Ramsey County Beach, just up from the swim exit.

Please Note: To help with the congestion that often happens within the transition area, only participants and volunteers will be permitted in the transition area. Bikes must be walked or run in the transition area. Mount/dismount zones are located just outside the transition area.

Directional signs, mile markers, and volunteers will be posted on the course during the race day to assist with navigation, but it always helps to know your course, so give it a look, give it a ride, and you'll be good to go on race day.

The entire bike route is open to traffic, so please be aware of vehicles and plan on following all traffic rules when traffic control is not present. The road surface is asphalt and course volunteers (armed with brooms) are stationed at all turns. This should be a nice, clean course. Please help us keep it that way by holding on to your empty gel packs or other littler. 

All bikes are required to display a bike number. Tri Fitness will provide pre-race bike support.

You are not allowed to wear headphones on your bike. 

BIKE HELMETS ARE MANDATORY AND MUST BE SECURED ANY TIME YOU ARE ON YOUR BIKE.

The run course is a gorgeous run along White Bear Lake. It is pancake flat and fast on a pedestrian running path. 

Fluid replacement (water and HEED) will be available at: mile 1.5, near the turn-around, and at mile 3 for the long course, near the turnaround.


Awards and Prizes

Awards are given to:

  • Top overall Male & Female athletes
  • Top 2 Male & Female athletes in each age group (19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+)
  • Top 2 relay teams (we allow male, female, or mixed teams - awards are only given to the top 2 overall teams, not the top 2 of each mix)

**Must be present to win. If you want your award and can't stay, shipping cost is your responsibility.**
